The construction of this First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College, covering an area of more than 333,000 square meters, began in 2007. Its exterior construction was completed in July 2009 and now, interior construction is underway.
The hospital looks like the shape of a hand. Its main corridor is 15-meter wide which connects the medical departments and the outpatients department with 18 escalators and its 8m wide sub-corridor leads patients from medical departments to the wards. The parking place for around 1,000 staffs is located in the basement while 1,500 public parking spaces are on the ground.
The emergency center is located at the north of the building and has a separate entrance and exit. The hospital also has a helicopter pad. The hospital is equipped with facilities like banks, a post office, bookstore, gift shop, restaurants, and supermarket and entertainment facilities. There is also a pedestrian area at the back of the ground floor.
