The innovative, eco-friendly boutique hotel has been redeveloped from the former Hotel Wacker designed in 1926. The 12 story eco-friendly boutique hotel features a lobby bar, a wellness spa, three small conference rooms, and comfortable guest rooms outfitted with top-of-the-line technology.

The eco-friendly features of the hotel include in-room motion sensors to control the thermostat, allowing the heating and cooling to automatically adjust based upon the guests use of the room, installation of recycled products in everything from artwork to fabrics and surfaces, flooring and wall coverings.

The hotel also features organic materials, renewable resources, and energy efficient plumbing, heating and air conditioning. Recycled materials, low-emitting paints, carpets, and a green cleaning program add to the eco friendly benefits.

David R. LaPlaca, architecture associate at Cubellis, says that the basement, designed to contain the hotel offices, a new data center, and laundry facilities for the hotel, was transformed with the addition of an employee lounge equipped with locker rooms and showers.

LaPlaca adds that that the basement has bike storage for employees who ride to work and a recycling room to support the hotel’s extensive recycling program.

The hotel is located in proximity to public transportation for employees and guests to choose alternative methods of arrival and departure. Guests also receive complimentary valet parking.

Elate, the hotel’s restaurant, will open in the middle of 2009 and will offer American cuisine.
