Specifications included a serene, uncluttered interior in harmony with mid-century modern furniture and contemporary design. Other requirements included increasing the square footage, opening up interior space by removing existing walls, and incorporating access to patios and xeriscaped gardens with custom-designed features throughout.
Custom zebrawood cabinet doors and drawers were built with ebony wood and simple black iron hardware. This created a visual that completed the gray, glass subway tile backsplash, highlighted with under-mounted lighting. The kitchen counters were made of white quartz to offer a light and bright feel to other darker materials in the kitchen. Carbonized bamboo floors were used throughout. Neutral tones in fabrics, paints and tiles were used to create a relaxed ambience.
The existing kitchen space was small and dark. More space and light were needed to complete the renovation successfully. To achieve this, the designer added many new windows and glass doors to allow as much natural light as possible. A well-thought-out lighting design and electrical plan was also integrated into the system.
