The Slide Medical System allows any emergency or medical staff to slide, gently and effortlessly, a person from an ambulance stretcher onto a bed, an X-Ray table and/or onto an operating table.

This light and sturdy two-panel system slides under the patient, removing stress from both patient and the care giver. This system will be on display at the FIME trade show in Miami from August 12 to 14, 2009, at booth 2519.

Designed by Direct Medical, this device is made of two separate polycarbonate L-shaped panels equipped with a simple sliding runner and a handle that’s easy to grip. Its special coating prevents any skin friction or burn effect. This device is for hospital or medical use.

Not only does it facilitate the smooth and swift transfer of a patient from a stretcher to a bed but it also facilitates the patient’s bathing activity, changing bedding, and it also avoids pressure on any existing bed sores.

To use, one panel is gently placed under the patient’s shoulder and the other is slipped under the buttocks. Holding both grab handles and with one swift gesture, the nurse then horizontally pulls and places the patient onto the other support, without any pressure on the nurse’s back.

The Slide System can either be thermo-sterilized (134 degree Celsius; 273 degree Fahrenheit) or immersed in a special disinfecting solution, thus maintaining a nosocomial (staphylococcus) infection-free environment for the patient. It is quick to assemble and easy to use. The material is suitable for any person’s morphology or weight. Most of all, it is comfortable for both the patient and the staff.

Direct Medical is also seeking distributors in US for the Slide Medical System in the US.
