The new green restaurant to be opened by late July 2010 is the first LEED Gold-certified restaurant of Eat’n Park. The 200-seat eatery features a wind turbine to generate energy. The turbine is ground mounted and stands 40-feet tall. The company is expecting that the turbine will harness 12 mile-per-hour winds to generate 2,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
The new restaurant will also feature energy-star rated equipment, recycled construction materials and other LEED features. The new initiative is part of the company’s objective to reduce its carbon footprint.
Pennsylvania-headquartered Eat’n Park has eateries and restaurants throughout Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and Northern West Virginia.
