According to architect Jacques Herzog, the building is ‘all muscle without cloth’, and has been constructed out of glass and concrete. This sculptural parking facility has been designed to allow lot of natural light at each level, and is illuminated with a number of bulbs and tube lights in the night.
The 1111 incorporates 300 parking spaces and is home to 11 shops and three restaurants that have been situated at ground level. The building also has a shopping center on the fifth floor and a restaurant on the roof, on a total area of 40,000 square feet. The building is open from the sides and is surrounded by tall palm trees.
The building had been envisaged by Robert Wennett. It is a collaboration of architects, landscape architects, artists and designers who have come together to create this shopping, dining, residential and parking space for the people in Miami.
