The hotel, to be designed by Dutch architects Mecanoo, will substitute the existing Hilton facility and will house a total of 433 guest rooms. The current Hilton property will operate until the opening of the new hotel and will then be demolished. The interior design of the new building will be carried out by Merkx+Girod of The Netherlands and Hirsch Bedner Associates of the UK. The new hotel will offer a contemporary Dutch style with use of original forms and a harmonious colour palette.
The new facility will incorporate the shape of a cube comprising rounded edges and a diamond-shaped façade with diagonal lines. It will consist of a large atrium with a 35-metre tall ceiling made of glass. Its balustrades will feature light horizontal lines, which coupled with its white elements will allow maximum penetration of natural light deep inside. Its frames and lining will offer an elegant look to the property.
The hotel will sport a ballroom and 23 meeting rooms, speciality restaurant and bar, executive lounge, spa and fitness centre, a well-lit atrium lobby and 138 underground parking areas. In addition, there will be a new sheltered walkway which will link to the airport terminal.
Construction is due to begin by 2012 end with the property slated to open by 2015.
