The seven-storey building was built in the 1920s. The renovation program was initiated in 2009 to restore the building to an upscale boutique hotel reflective of its surrounding community.

The renovated hotel features 93-rooms which provide panoramic views of the Mississippi River or historic Baton Rouge, including the 34-storey nearby state office building. The hotel’s original architecture has been retained. The interior design is simple and elegant and highlights the building’s history using natural colours and lighting. The trademark design feature is the oval-shaped lobby reception desk and the floor-to-ceiling curved reclaimed pinewood wall. The interiors display 16 distinct murals throughout the property which depict images of the nearby Arsenal Park. The murals further showcase the city’s rich cultural, art and entertainment history.

Guestrooms of the hotel feature plush bedding, high-definition flat screen TV, CD player and spa-inspired showers with Aveda products. Hard surface flooring with area rugs create a fresh residential feel. The hotel also offers executive suites and executive floors, 24-hour access to the hotel’s business center, a boardroom that seats up to 12, complimentary Wi-Fi in public spaces and high-speed Internet connections in each room.

The menu and bar items of the hotel feature local and seasonal ingredients brought to the table in partnership with a network of vendors, from farmers and bakers to brew masters and coffee roasters.
