The grocery store was one large, long room before it was remodeled into a clinic with 15 rooms. The clinic measures 2,100 square feet, and features a lab, two examining rooms, an X-ray room, two treatment areas, a surgery room, rooms in which to keep the animals, and a reception area.

Dr. John Bensenhaver said that there weren’t many clinics in the area, and people had to go to Franklin, Suffolk or Smithfield for service.

This is not Bensenhaver’s first venture into business in this area. About two-and-a-half years ago, he purchased and renovated the Old State Lab on Route 460, which was built in the late 1960s.
