The 30,000 square feet Carolina Student-Athlete Center for Excellence will be a five-story structure designed to replace 1927-built Kenan Field House. The facility will be designed to house the academic support center for student-athletes, the Carolina Leadership Academy, Olympic sports’ strength and conditioning center, visiting locker room, club seats and individual suites. The strength and conditioning center will feature a 13,600 square feet cardio and strength training equipment and a 40-yard track.

The most significantly visible portion of the renovation will be the addition of 2,980 seats, transforming the stadium into a bowl. The additional seats in the end zone, named the Blue Zone, will offer 1836 seats in the Concourse Club and Loge, located just a few feet from the field; 824 seats in the Upper Club and Loge on the fourth floor; and 320 seats in 20 suites on the fifth floor.

The construction will commence soon with an expected completion in 15 months time.

Kenan Stadium is the home field of the North Carolina Tar Heels, the athletic teams for the University of North Carolina. The stadium is located in the midst of a cluster of pine trees near the center of campus at the University of North Carolina, and is regarded as one of the most scenic venue in the US for college football.
