Scope of work in phase II involves restoration of the south range elements, which will infuse life into the old building constructed in 1196. The company will also repair and stabilize the roof structures, repair masonry and restore lime stucco. The project also includes the creation of new learning spaces including an educational activity zone in the south-east wing.

The company will transform the top floor of Abbey into a dramatic and dynamic gallery based around the 800-year history of Torre Abbey. The building will have displays and viewing stations overlooking the marine vista of Tor Bay.

The project has received a £2.8 million ($4.4 million) grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Work on the project is likely to take approximately two years to complete. The Abbey is expected to be closed in the restoration period while the gardens will remain open. The site is owned and operated by the Torbay Council.
