Kinzo, based in Berlin, has applied crystalline signature style to the retail space. The cables of the light installation are not hidden behind a drywall ceiling; but have been displayed artistically in a ‘computer chip’ pattern. All cables are covered in green nylon mesh and have been fixed on the ceiling to resemble the graphic pattern of a circuit board or computer chip. The exposed cables have been transformed as eye-catching design element, and every single cable ends at a pendant or mounted light.
Kinzo, in association with German specialist in bespoke lighting solutions idee.design.licht, has developed ceiling-mounted lamps.
The image of a grasshopper, solely composed of green light, adorns the back wall of the store. Kinzo used specially commissioned software to create the grasshopper images. The software helped in converting the grayscale of a picture into a pattern of holes that were laser-cut into a metal sheet. The grasshopper’s delicate legs and antennae are resonated by the open cabling and green light installation.
The shop displays its fashion retail items on top of low, polygonal platforms that seem to float on the dark oak floor like icebergs.
