The ‘deconstructed’ Extreme Green model home includes informative displays and even exposed walls to show potential homeowners various energy-saving features being built into the homes. The Extreme Green homes are designed to save homeowners up to 50% on their utility bills.

Various energy efficiency features are included in the Extreme Green homes. These include insulation, spray foam weather sensing irrigation, energy-efficient CFL lighting, double vinyl low-E windows, dual flush actuator toilets, high performance water saving plumbing fixtures and a 14 SEER air conditioning unity.

Energy and ConSol have collaborated to deliver the Advanced Building Techniques (ABT) program that aims to improve the energy efficiency of home construction in southern Nevada over and above minimum energy codes. ABT homes will save approximately 9,000 kWh per home per year. The program helped Meritage Homes receive technical analysis and design support, marketing assistance, and rebates based on kWh savings.

Meritage Homes’ Extreme Green homes are being built at its five communities in Northern Terrace and Mountain’s Edge.
