The resort features Universal Singapore Theme Park, a casino, museum, marine life park, six hotels, a 7300-person underground ballroom and a number of restaurants. The project, to be developed on a 121 acre site, also includes a 470-room boutique hotel which is designed by Graves. Featuring furniture and furnishings from the Michael Graves Design Group, Hotel Michael will also include paintings in public spaces and in each guest room.
An orchid-themed Festive Hotel in the resort is aimed at families. The ultra-luxury Crocksford Tower will feature a casino. The project also includes a Hard Rock Hotel, convention center and a coliseum theater. Graves has designed the exterior while the Hard Rock’s own design group has finished the interiors.
The second phase of the project is expected to start in July 2010 on the west zone of the site which will include Equarius Hotel and two tree-house suites. They will be elevated on stilts and feature a wooden construction inside. Spa Village villas are also a part of this second phase.
The sustainable features of the project include several energy-saving systems. A solar panel array will generate renewable energy which will be able to produce 500,000 KWh annually. Rainwater will also be harvested and reused, which allows the project to gain a GoldPlus award from Singapore’s Building and Construction agency.
