The observation deck is built for those with a head for heights. Look out points extend out over the side of the colossal mountain offering views across the Al Hajar Mountain Range which borders Oman.
For the adventurous, the observation deck will act as a base for hikers and bikers looking to challenge themselves on the rocky mountain range.
However the observation platform is not just for the adrenaline junkies.
“The deck will let visitors take in stunning sea and mountain views, and the magnificent sunrises and sunsets which cast a dancing performance of light and shadow over the area every morning and evening.” Haitham Mattar, CEO, RAKTDA said.
Alongside the natural show that takes place each morning and evening, Matter explained that there will also be a number of other attractions.
“The Jebel Jais Observation Deck will also include a versatile events arena and a permanent area for food trucks serving members of the public and international guests who want to experience the fresh mountain air, “said Mattar.
Designed by Naga Architects and built by Botanical on behalf of RAKTDA, the deck has been built to ensure that it doesn’t interrupt the natural surroundings, it is lit by solar energy and is as sustainable as possible.
“We have worked very hard to implement natural, locally-sourced materials into the site – we want the Jebel Jais Observation Deck to blend as seamlessly as possible into the mountain façade.”Mattar said.
As an added bonus, the Observation Deck offers a cooling rest bite from the soaring temperatures of a Middle Eastern summer as it is usually 10 degrees cooler than ground level.
The deck is the latest in a number of attractions to be built as part of Ras Al Khaimah’s Vision 2019 tourism strategy, which aims to attract one million visitors by the end of next year.
