The project has been designed by global architectural company Pei Cobb Freed and Partners. The building spans 450,000 square feet encompassing 28 floors and will have a facade of steel and glass. The entryway of the facility will incorporate a concave shape which bears resemblance to an hourglass.
A floating disc made of stainless steel will be hung above the structure’s corner entrance disc at 40th Street. The disc, measuring 48 feet in diameter, will function as a canopy. It will also double up as the building’s signature architectural element. In addition, the facility will imbibe several sustainable features to match up with LEED norms.
Other features of the building include ten feet finished ceilings and use of full-height clear vision glass throughout. The facility will also feature two outdoor terraces overlooking the park on the building’s tenth floor. Plans could also include a signature duplex penthouse on the top floor.
Construction is scheduled to commence by 2012.
