On December 1, 2008, construction was started on the east side of the stadium, with expansion to be completed by late 2010.
The expansion will feature 33 new luxury suites, 1,750 upscale loge seats and an expanded upper deck, which will bring the total seating capacity to more than 56,000. Expansion scheme will also add a large terrace designed to connect the east and west side of the stadium. This is intended to make the access around the stadium more convenient. Food and beverage outlets will be featured in order to make it an outdoor place to sit together along with watching the game.
Construction of the 12,000-plus new seats is scaled for completion the 2010 season against on September 4, 2010. The expanded area begins with the south terrace. It is located beyond the current last row behind the south end zone. The space will feature tents filled with concessions and a massive 120 feet by 50 feet scoreboard.
The official seating capacity of the horseshoe-shaped facility was 42,000 through the 2009 season. There are no bleachers in the stadium. All the 42,000 seats are of the chairback variety.
