The renovation has rejuvenated the 2,400 square metre Satellite 5 boarding area to provide more comfort, space, and services to the passengers. Carried out by Aéroports de Paris, the project has added a new airbridge, bringing the total number of airbridges at Satellite 5 up to eight. The new airbridge was fitted to accommodate the Airbus A380 currently operated by Thaï Airways.

Satellite 5 features a more colourful space with three old departure lounges opened up into a spacious and comfortable single area. A space of over 120 square metre along the perimeter of the large, plate-glass windows has been cleared to make way for 40 additional seats, which has increased the accommodation capacity by up to nearly 340 seats. There are three newly furnished checkpoint units at the security check areas to facilitate access and passenger flow and new toilet blocks.

The refurbishment also added more services and retail outlets spanning more than 250 square metres along with a video games area, a music lounge, and the Atlanteam workspace for business travelers that is equipped with self-service computers. A fountain and a smoking area are also featured.

The overall work has increased the energy efficiency of the building with revised airtightness, reinforced insulation, and installation of a new heating and air-conditioning system. Aéroports de Paris also brought in specialists to improve the ambient noise and light conditions in the satellite. The ceiling and various pillars have been coated with rockwool for better acoustics while the boarding hall has been fitted with automatic light sensors to control the lighting.

Aéroports de Paris will next renovate Satellite 6.
