The Gun Lamps are made of die cast aluminum with injection molded polymer overprint. The shades are either a matte black plasticized paper diffuser with silk screen gold printing inside, or chrome silver with white paper shade and grey inside. All the pieces will carry the designer’s ‘S+arck’ logo.

Starck derived the ideas from some of the best-known and most iconic firearms, the Kalashnikov and M16 machine guns and the Beretta pistol. He aims to make the viewer reflect on the conspiracy between money and war. The gold base of the lamp symbolizes money, and the black lampshade depicts death and the great loss of war.

Some commentators have expressed concerns that the new lamp collection will not be appreciated by many high-end design fans, who may not feel that violence is especially suitable as a home accessory.
