The renovation has been planned in phases with the first phase to begin after the Ashland Tomcats play their last home game of the 2012 season.
The first phase will include razing the stadium’s current structure and replacing the seating with enclosed stadium bleachers. It will also include new home and visiting locker rooms, plumbing and additional restrooms on the north side, additional concession areas and lighting. The first phase will entail an outlay of approximately $2.2 million. It is aimed at providing better seating and viewing experience to fans.
The second phase is expected to include artificial turf field, Practice field, Banked end zone, Parking lots, Donors corner, Championship flag poles, and Tomcat statue.
While the original stadium built in 1937 cost $6,500, the new renovated stadium will involve a price tag of more than $5 million.
