Lee Valley Athletics Centre is a state-of- the-art training facility designed as the largest indoor and outdoor athletics center serving London and the South of England. It is also home to three of the four British track and field medalists at the Beijing Olympics.
The indoor facility of the center includes 200 meter 6 lane track; 130 meter sprint straight; 60 meter sprint straight; permanent seating for 500 spectators; full jumps provision; specialist indoor throws area; and strength and conditioning suite.
The outdoor facilities of LVAC include 400 meter 8 lane track; field events facilities; covered seating for 350 spectators; and an outdoor terrace.
Designed by David Morley Architects in association with environmental engineers Max Fordham LLP, the innovative and sustainable design for the LVAC has achieved the highest Display Energy Certificate (DEC) rating – grade A on a scale of A-G, demonstrating a low annual CO2 emission and energy consumption. Judges commended David Morley’s implementation of energy-efficient construction procedures and green measures to solve waste and transport needs.
The 2010 RICS London Awards ceremony was held on May 12, 2010 at The Crypt of St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
