A major element of the Capital Improvement Plan is the renovation of Terminal 1 with an investment of $1.7 billion. Renovation of Terminal 1 is scheduled to start in June 2014 with no disclosure of completion date.
The plan will also include major upgrades for Boarding Area B of Terminal 3, which is estimated to cost $114 million and security checkpoint areas. Construction has already started on that project, which is expected to be finished by 2014.
A new hotel near the U.S. Highway 101 entrance within the airport grounds is also part of the plan that can accommodate 400 guests. The hotel is expected to open in the next three to four years, pending environmental approval.
The plan is expected to provide 36,000 jobs over the next 10 years.
