This came after the success of world’s largest women’s shoe department. The space is part of Selfridges’ ongoing masterplan for the brand.
The men’s shoe department is spread over 15,000 square feet and features over 250 brands, bespoke brand boutiques and a made-to-order shoe salon. Belgian architect Vincent van Duysen designed this project, which has been inspired by residential interiors. Wooden parquet floor, dramatic oak panels, natural stone cladding and treated walls in a warm bone shade forms a visual framework. The stunning leather carpet in the central space adds more beauty to it.
The largest men’s shoe department in London features a dedicated space for pop-up shops, exclusive collaborations, customisation services, trunk shows and unique retails initiatives, such as ‘buy from the runway’ concepts, which ensures that the offering is ever-evolving. Paul Smith has designed the new pop up boutique to reflect one of his other passions outside of designing shoes – books. The space features a series of short films showcasing the inspirational books behind the new collection as well as several exclusive styles.
The department features two new salons with one dedicated entirely to driving shoes. Its interior is inspired by the bodywork of vintage Ferraris. The second salon is a unique made-to-order salon where one can create their own bespoke styles including selecting the leather and skin, the colour, the sole type and the stitching.
A footwear ‘haberdashery’ is also included which will sell a range of shoe accessories including polishes, brushes, laces and insoles.
The department houses an unparalleled showcase of the most iconic fashion brands in the world, with more than 80 being new to Selfridges including Kenzo, McQ, Opening Ceremony, Oliver Spencer, Ann Demeuleemester and Burberry. From customised sneakers to bespoke Prada brogues, the space showcases them all. It includes over 120 exclusive styles, featuring Jimmy Choo, Derby shoes, Alexander Mcqueen and other types of shoe for men. At a time, the store will stock 72, 000 pairs of shoes with 3, 200 styles. Over 80 new brands will be available for this season alone.
