The building, which will be the workplace for hundreds of people, has incorporated bespoke, Sotech-Optima IPC anodised aluminium shingles. Sotech was commissioned to design and manufacture over 8,000 of the bespoke diamond shaped aluminium shingles which have been installed on the facades of two adjoining office buildings.
The anodised rainscreen panels incorporate a transparent anodic layer which claims to preserve the natural metallic appearance of the aluminium substrate to provide a durable finish and is not subject to maintenance or wash down regimes.
Installed by McMullen Architectural, over 2,000 square metres of the Optima IPC System, provided in 1mm thick aluminium silver anodised shingles, has been used to create a dramatic feature on the striking, energy-efficient high specification buildings. The shingles interlock and overlap to achieve a secret fix system and have been engineered to seamlessly integrate with all other building façade elements such as windows, doors and louvres.
The Optima shingles provide a traditional approach to metal cladding that can be provided in a completely bespoke format and can be fully supported on backing boards or fixed to top hats for maximum design fluidity.
Suitable for all wall constructions, the shingles also have a limitless range of sizes and material options. The system is completely recyclable and does not support combustion, with all components meeting the requirements laid out in BS476, part 7, Class 0.
