The 3,000 square feet Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East is designed to accommodate the enormous maternity growth. The facility will house labor/delivery/recovery rooms, neonatal intensive care, a large nursery and all other aspects of maternity care. The hospital’s spacious NICU is designed to encourage parents to spend time with their child. An overnight parent room is also featured at the facility. The new facility houses Women’s Health Institute also.
The design has taken care of environmental concerns. Recycled products have been widely used for flooring, ceilings and countertops. High-efficiency lighting fixtures are used throughput the facility.
The hospital, which is distinct for its patient-centered design, includes a community center, gift shop, Cosi restaurant, an interior courtyard, green space, and special waiting areas for families and children. The corridors of the hospital display original artwork from Kentucky artists.
