The international hospitality brand has signed a management contract with Bengal Ambuja Housing Development Limited (BAHDL) for a Swissotel in Kolkata, which is due to open in the fourth quarter of 2009. Kolkata is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal.
The new deluxe hotel will be part of City Centre – the newly opened shopping mall in the mall, with shops, restaurants and a multiplex cinema. The hotel will have 147 rooms, each measuring at least 32 square meters. The hotel will feature three restaurants, including a specialty restaurant and an open-air restaurant, a lobby bar, and a poolside bar. Other facilities offered are a 1,261 square meter conference room, a fitness center, and a rooftop swimming pool.
The hotel will be located in the new and developing city district of Rajarhat, which has become a hub of large IT and commercial companies, as well as residences, schools, shopping malls, sports centers, and cultural centers. The facility is in proximity to the Netaji Subash Chandra (NSC) Bose International airport.
Swissotel is a brand of global hotel chain Fairmont Raffles Hotels International headquartered in Canada. Fairmont has more than 90 properties worldwide under the Fairmont, Raffles, and Swissotel brands.
