The new office and function space is 16 times more spacious than the former location. It features more space for visa applicants, reception area to serve special events, as well as a public Information Resource Centre.
The new facility imbibes a host of green features. It includes installation of contemporary computerized building management systems which monitor the major building systems to enhance efficiency in electricity consumption.
The property incorporates an efficient storm water management system. The system stores downpours and discharges it slowly to the city slowly to minimise chances of flooding. The facility also makes use of a high-performance wastewater treatment plant to collect and treat all sewage before releasing it to the city system. Further, it uses drip irrigation and reclaimed wastewater which helps in cutting down the amount of fresh water drawn from the city.
Wood sunscreens formed of sustainably harvested Indonesian wood have been incorporated around the building exterior which help in deflecting sunlight. The building has also been equipped with light shelves which maximise penetration of natural light inside.
