Work involves redesign of the building’s main floor. The main entryway to Dafoe, Carolyn Sifton Wing, the circulation and reference service spaces, information commons, and restrooms will receive a facelift as part of the project.
There will be relocation of the entrance with overhaul of the heating, lighting and electrical units. The circulation and reference help will be integrated into one service following the makeover. The revamped facility will also feature a new self-serve check out as well as a self-serve reserve room.
The project will lead to creation of 40 new study areas, and upgraded furniture pieces, self-serve circulation kiosks, along with an open access reserve collection. The writing tutors of the Learning Assistance Centre will be combined into the new service desk post refurbishments. The remodelled library will house a permanent area for academic support. Plans are further on to incorporate group study spaces against the building’s back wall, and creation of a separate entry to the other stories of the building.
