Located on the east end of the iconic Logan campus facing the historic quad, the Agricultural Sciences Building is a 121,000 square feet facility. The building features research and teaching laboratories, classrooms, and artfully-designed collaboration spaces.

Prioritising environmental responsibility and the health and comfort of building occupants, the Agricultural Sciences Building includes an array of sustainable features like horizontal placement of sunshades on the south face of the building to reduce solar heat gain, photovoltaic panels in the solar shades to produce renewable energy on site, operable windows in the offices to provide occupant comfort, and natural ventilation.

Apart from that the building also features exterior glazing, a central atrium and skylight to bring natural light into the building core, and the installation of updated mechanical and electrical systems to improve energy efficiency.

In addition to that, the site has also been developed taking care of the environment by implementing strategies to control and treat 100% of the storm water on site, reduce on-site parking, and incorporate enough open space.

The landscaping has been designed to reduce outdoor water usage by over 55%. Other sustainable features of the building include water conservation, installation of plumbing fixtures to reduce indoor water use by 34%, and construction waste management.

The construction has used recycled and regional materials. The building structure, enclosure, and interior include 26.1% of recycled materials and 13.4% of these are locally-sourced. Adding more sustainability, the building has used healthy indoor materials. All of the interior flooring, finishes, and composite wood products contain low VOCs to contribute to a healthy environment.
