The new chemotherapy and infusion wing of the hospital aims at providing a convenient facility for patients and staff by revamping the small and cramped physical therapy room, which was initially rectangular in shape featuring a glass partition.

Previously, the room had only six chairs, one bed four television sets. The new wing now includes five bays, each integrated with two flat screen televisions. Two recliners have been added for proper administration of treatment.

An additional room has also been provided so that one family member can accompany the patient when undergoing treatment. Two beds have also been provided for privacy, and a multipurpose room for private meetings between patients and their caretakers.

The wing will sport a new pharmacy and medication room to provide better amenities. A satellite pharmacy will be constructed at the final phase of the project. The new wing sets the stage for further renovations to be brought about in the hospital, which will see the conversion of patient rooms to private rooms with attaché bathrooms.

The design and construction of the 2,500 square feet chemotherapy wing took 10 months to complete, with an estimated cost of $1.3 million, and was funded through the hospital’s renovation budget.

The hospital will stage a grand opening of the chemotherapy wing on completion of the pharmacy wing.
