The plant is the only automotive manufacturing plant in the world to secure the certification. It incorporates various eco-friendly features including a green paint shop. The shop has been designed to reap annual water savings of over 50 million gallons.

The facility has been equipped with low-flow water closets and toilets which cut down potable water consumption by 58%. It has also installed a sanitary waste system which is used to collect rainwater from the roof. These, coupled with presence of low-flow showers, lavatory and kitchen faucets, offer potable water savings of over three million gallons annually.

The entire plant imbibes a white, reflective roofing material. The roof repels heat and leads to cooling cost cuts, thereby reducing energy usage. All the lighting fixtures fitted in the exterior prevent light pollution by generating minimum lighting and avoiding spilling of light in the night sky.

Other green features include use of 48% of reclaimed materials during construction, and salvaging or recycling of about 78% of construction and demolition debris. Creation of bike racks for visitors and staff, showers and lockers for staff, and preferred parking spaces for low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles boosts the green initiative.
