The announcement was made at a meeting held on August 4, 2009. The Wal-Mart supercenter will spread across 184,985 square feet on 22.5 acres of the 36 acre site behind the Burger King outlet.

Going beyond the city’s minimum standards on landscaping, parking, open space and other amenities, Wal-Mart has added sustainable building features to the store design.

The supercenter will also feature a pocket park to the north, and has also agreed to improve Gary Burns Drive, and install a traffic light at Hickory and Preston.

The store authorities have also agreed to move their property line 25 feet to the east, landscape that area, and transfer that land to the adjacent town homes. Furthermore an eight-feet wall will also be built to separate the store from residential area.
