The renovation is targeted at improving the interior spaces of the library, to make it more comfortable, climate-controlled building. The project will redefine interior spaces of the library to create five enclosed collaborative group spaces, new offices for instructional technology, and a café.

The second floor, of the renovated building, will house an open quiet-study area. Other work at the library involves renovation and expansion of the Archives section, expansion of the Office of Academic Skills spaces. A new geothermal HVAC system, consisting of air handlers and ductwork will be also installed at Miller Library.

To render an essence of modernity to the old facility, its electrical and plumbing systems, flooring, ceilings and lights will also undergo changes. The existing tables, chairs, and plants will be swapped with more functional counterparts.

Work on the library is likely to be completed in a span of four-months, with opening planned for late 2012.
