The addition spanning 253,443 square feet features a 12-room operating suite, a renovated and expanded emergency department, and a new 35-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This new addition project forms part of the $113 million Project Platinum, a scheme designed to maintain the facility’s status as a top tier healthcare provider in the Tri-Cities area. The D Tower addition and renovation project’s main aim was to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the structure.

Expanses of exterior brick have been removed and replaced with glass to offer a sense of openness. Large glass canopies helps in filling the entrance with natural light. The new Emergency Department and operating suite currently feature more open floor plans. The facility features a centralised nurse’s station to foster more accessibility within the facility and enables more efficient service to patients.

The Tower D also features state-of-the-art technology and energy-efficient techniques, such as sunshades and updated mechanical system supports.
