The building spans 144,000 square feet covering seven levels. The first floor of the structure comprises an Emergency/Trauma Centre encompassing 23,000 square feet. The centre is over thrice the size of the existing Emergency room. It sports 30 private exam rooms equipped with flat screen TVs, and four trauma rooms. There is a pair of mixed-use psych rooms which can serve as fast track or regular exam rooms. The centre also sports dedicated radiology room with digital-instant image, dedicated 128-slice CT scan, drive-up entryway, separate ambulance entrance, security system, and med gasses in hallway. Other features of the facility include a EMS decontamination room, two custom-made elevators for patients and staff, as well as spacious waiting area. The facility offers direct access to the Cardiac Cath Lab and Surgical Centre.
The building’s second storey features the Centre for Pediatrics with 22 pediatric rooms, two treatment rooms, and two isolation rooms. It also houses toddler play room, adolescent media room, and nourishment centres. All the rooms of the centre have been fitted with pull-out sleeper sofa, and glide chair. The centre further incorporates high-definition security cameras. The design of the centre allows nurses to view two patients at one time from the hallways.
The third floor of the facility accommodates the Centre for Critical Care. It features 22 new Stryker critical care beds, centralised staff lounger/locker rooms, two bariatric lifts, own stat lab, large waiting zone, and conference rooms. All the rooms of the centre sport 32-inch flat screen TVs, and have been equipped to facilitate dialysis. The rooms for the visitors comprise sleep recliners and slide chairs. The design of the centre enables the nurses to view two patients at once from hallways.
The fourth level of the building consists of the surgical unit. The unit incorporates 22 private beds, pull-out sleeper sofas and ortho recliners with higher foot stools. The building’s fifth and sixth levels are semi-finished. The seventh storey comprises physician office space featuring two large as well as two medium suites.
