Christopher superyacht is the latest new build from Pendennis Shipyard, featuring three staterooms and a study to provide the owners and their guests with accommodation for up to 12, with a further four cabins to sleep up to eight crew.
At 150ft/46m in length, Christopher yacht represents all of Ron Holland Design’s latest thinking with regard to a performance oriented cruising yacht. In response to the clients’ wishes for a yacht that would reflect the styling of the classic yachts of the past, a sweeping sheerline and counter stern has been integrated to emphasise its traditional lines. These aspects, together with the decision to teak clad Christopher’s superstructure, have given the yacht a close connection to the magnificent sailing yachts of earlier years.
The yacht features refined underwater lines, sophisticated bulb keel and high aspect ratio centreboard. Its twin balanced rudders, incorporated to maximise sailing performance in strong wind conditions, display an obvious departure for a large cruising yacht. It will also allow space for a large tender to be deployed from the lazarette. Below deck, the interior of the yacht reflects a traditional influence.
Christopher is the first Ron Holland design to be fully rigged with both carbon spars and carbon rigging, reducing the yacht’s displacement while improving her overall sail carrying ability in strong winds.
The project commenced at the end of 2008, when Pendennis announced the partnership with Ron Holland Design and Palm Beach Yachts International to build a new 46m performance cruising ketch.
