The 64-storey structure has been designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and is being built by Brookfield developers. The 945 feet tall building is shaped like a corkscrew and is known as helter skelter. The building will comprise 947,200 square feet of office area. The exterior portion of the office will be made in glass while its facade will be adorned with curling patterns. The upper levels of the tower will comprise restaurants as well as a viewing deck for the public.
The building will be equipped with solar panelling over an area of 21,500 square feet, the largest on any building in London. In addition, it will incorporate a double-layered skin which will enable it respond to variations in climate and reduce energy usage.
The tower is slated to be the tallest building in London and the second tallest in the UK. Construction of the tower is expected to be completed by 2014. The tower is being financed by Arab Investments.
