The project involved expansion of the current terminal by 137,000 square feet. The number of security screening checkpoint lanes in the terminal have been increased by twice the existing number while an outbound baggage in-line explosives detection system has also been created post upgrades. The new expanded terminal will span over an area of 145,000 square feet.
Work also included creation of five extra passenger gates, a security screening checkpoint, baggage handling equipment, elevators and an improved inbound/outbound passenger circulation space. Further, the present surface parking areas have also been expanded and a food court and retail zone have been added. A new enclosed bridge link to the parking garage over the terminal roadway has also been created as part of the overhaul.
