In particular, the judges singled out ACO Qmax as an outstanding example of how the company had ‘gone that extra mile in terms of supporting its product in the field’. The product, which has already received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2006, took two years to develop and is the first comprehensive high capacity slot drainage and attenuation system.

A genuine breakthrough in the approach to draining large open areas such as car parks, distribution yards and airport runways, Qmax has the capacity to retain and control the discharge of high volumes of surface run-off. This unique feature protects the main sewer system from flooding and, with its 100% seal technology, safeguards the surrounding environment from contamination via leakage.

“We are naturally delighted to have received this accolade. It is the first time that we have been recognised by the construction industry itself and adds to what has already been a fantastic year for ACO with the winning of the Queen’s Award,” says Richard Hill, Managing Director at ACO Technologies.

He continues: “We appreciated the fact that the judges really went into detail and saw the wider benefits of the investments we make in manufacturing and in helping contractors and engineers achieve higher levels of productivity. Qmax was a long and demanding development project that addressed many issues, not least meeting the current and future health & safety and environmental needs of the industry.”
