In a recent extension to the Humphreys Hall building of Caterham School, new flooring was required for the main foyer and stairways. With the need to withstand heavy traffic over a long period, Millerbourne Architects looked towards carpet tiles as the solution. Christian Richards, who played a key role in the specification process, explains:

"Flooring choice was central to the development of this interior scheme. We were anxious that the carpet tiles would not only provide a sophisticated grey look, but also deliver a combination of durability and ease of maintenance. This is exactly what’s been achieved through Christy Carpets’ Relax collection and its Antron® LumenaTM fibre, and we would have no hesitations in specifying the product again on future projects."

Antron® LumenaTM fibre features a multi-hollow cross-section that reduces the appearance of soiling, perfect in an education environment, and as a solution-dyed fibre comprises a molecular structure that makes it difficult for dirt to stick. Further to simple maintenance, this performance fibre is also lightfast and stain-resistant, helping the striking RLX10 Relax carpet tiles to stay looking good for longer.
