Unexpected Purpose has been designed using advanced tufting technology to allow the pattern to flow stylishly and effortlessly across the floor whilst offering a non-directional, batchless installation system that will offer clients the ultimate in time and cost saving, flexibility and convenience. At the same time, Unexpected Purpose promises the same aesthetic, performance, sustainability and well-being attributes expected from all Milliken carpet tile collections.
Because Unexpected Purpose tiles can be installed in any direction, with no need to follow directional arrows or pile direction, installation time is reduced. Non directional installation also cuts down on installation waste: a typical modular carpet installation produces approximately 4% wastage whereas with Unexpected Purpose the wastage can be less than 1%. Unexpected Purpose can therefore be seen as a highly sustainable floorcovering solution; reduced wastage means reduced materials and therefore a reduced environmental footprint. With Unexpected Purpose carpet tiles, the possibility of visible variation between production batches has been eliminated. This facilitates easy replacement of damaged areas and ease of adding new areas.
Unexpected Purpose is produced using high-performance ECONYL® yarn with 100% regenerated nylon. Offering the same strength and lifecycle as fibre crafted from virgin polymer, ECONYL® fibre is made from a minimum of 50% pre-consumer and 50% post-consumer content reducing resource consumption and waste. Unexpected Purpose features 90% recycled content cushion backing. To further reduce their environmental impact Unexpected Purpose tiles can be supplied with TractionBack® for adhesive free installation. Eliminating the need for adhesives, TractionBack® improves indoor air quality and reduces materials wastage.
With Unexpected Purpose there is the added security of the following third party certifications: the collection is produced in an ISO14001 certified facility in Wigan, UK using ethically sourced and wherever possible, locally produced materials. It is CRI Green Label Plus / GuT Certified / EPD verified and BRE Certified. Unexpected Purpose with regenerated content fibre and TractionBack® is eligible for LEED® points.
