As part of GEZE UK’s Games transport planning, new streamlined toolboxes with essential equipment, spares and mobile steps have been sourced, giving engineers the flexibility to travel on public transport to jobs, rather than bringing service vans into central or East London.
With MSS, Mobile Service Solution, each engineer has remote access to GEZE UK’s central system on their PDA, enabling them to access job information, submit worksheets and status reports. The PDAs also incorporate GPS tracking technology, ensuring the exact location of every engineer can be monitored.
By tracking the engineer’s PDA, rather than their vehicle, the service team can pinpoint the location of each engineer throughout the capital and create a geo-fence around each new call-out as it is requested. This means that the customer can be automatically notified as soon as an engineer is in the vicinity, and the closest engineer is automatically requested to attend.
GEZE UK’s service director Steve Marshall said: “Through effective advance planning and by investing in technology and new equipment we have been able to maintain our service standards and reactive call-out times despite the extra numbers of visitors in London. Our customers are delighted with both the speed with which we have been able to respond, and the work that we have completed during this busy period.”
