Colour to create identity
The Post Office are thrilled with their office and explain why: "The touchdown zones are the vibrant heart of the office and link visually to the operational areas. The space is incredibly dynamic and the Heradesign ceilings help guide people through the building. The blocks of colour in the zones give these areas an identity."
Class A Sound Absorption
Senior Designer Mustafa Afsaroglu of HLW International explains what attracted him to Heradesign: "I liked the depth in texture of the panels – it added another layer to the ceiling. Acoustic control in the open area was key and Heradesign provides the necessary Class A sound absorption."
Colour matching
At the Post Office HQ, Heradesign panels were colour matched to the floor and wall colours. Heradesign can be specified in a wide variety of colours including pastels, solid and metallic colours using popular colour systems such as RAL, NCS and StoColor. Heradesign is manufactured from wood-wool which gives it an attractive, naturally textured surface. The panels are available in a choice of fibres ranging from 1-3mm thick, and in a number of different sizes and edge details.
Environmental credentials
One of the criteria for the project was to achieve SKA rating. The environmental credentials of Heradesign helped support the application for SKA rating. The wood-wool is sourced from sustainable forests which are FSC and PEFC certified. Heradesign panels have a 15 year guarantee and can last for more than 80 years. When the time comes, they can be recycled or disposed of without any detrimental impact on the environment.
To achieve the almost continuous appearance of the ceiling, Heradesign panels were installed using a concealed grid system. The ceiling panels are lightweight and easy to fit into place.
