One of these iconic buildings is the HSBC Headquarters in Hong Kong. Finished in November 1985, the 99,171 square metre buildings construction began in 1982 and at its time it was the most expensive building in the world. The new headquarters were built on the site of the previous headquarters which was knocked down to make way for the new iconic structure.

The old Headquarters was constructed in 1935 and was seen as the best architecture and build quality of its time, so the newly constructed replacement needed to carry on that tradition and be of the highest quality, in both name and reality for at least fifty years. With involvement in every element, Fosters + Partners required electrical accessories to match the vision and demand for quality. With suppliers chosen from around the world, around 20 countries in total, including Japan, USA, and the UK, each supplier was carefully chosen due to their ability to uphold the quality of material and design. Wandsworth Electrical was chosen as the supplier for the electrical accessories as their renowned reputation for craftsmanship, attention to detail and quality ensured this part of the design was delivered as required.

For the project Foster + Partners pioneered a unique delivery method, called ‘design development’. The method pioneered the control of the entire design, production, and construction by Foster + Partners who felt alone, only they had a unified concept for the building. Bringing into the team specialists from the engineers and construction, including J. Roger Preston & Partners and Ove Arup & Partners to fill in the knowledge gap.

Whether you need a bespoke plug socket or a modern light switch, Wandsworth Electricals designer collections and manufacturing capability has meant they have been used by leading interior designers and architects on major projects for over 100 years. So you can be assured that the quality delivered will meet, if not exceed expectations.
