Construction is now growing at its most constant level since before the 2008 crash, according to the Construction Trade Survey. The Saint-Gobain Innovation Centre, based on Great Portland Street, has proven to be a popular hub for exchange and dialogue between forward-thinking industry professionals who are committed to creating a sustainable built environment.
The centre has hosted a series of events including The Passivhaus Trust Masterclass sessions, Zero Carbon Hub seminars and a series of UBM Ecobuild events. Organisations such as the UK Green Building Council and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) have also used the facility.
2014 saw the launch of a RIBA-approved CPD seminar series for architects, designers and industry professionals, delivered by Saint-Gobain brands including British Gypsum, Isover, and Weber. The CPDs cover the latest product and system solutions with supporting technical advice and will continue to be delivered in 2015.
Peter Hindle MBE, Senior Vice President for Sustainable Habitat and General Delegate Saint-Gobain UK, Ireland & South Africa, said: "Research and Development and Innovation is at the heart of Saint-Gobain’s strategy and the Innovation Centre has proven to be a great venue for collaboration and partnering with other organisations from academia and industry.
"The need for the industry to innovate in order to meet the challenges of creating truly sustainable buildings has never been more important. To meet these challenges companies must remain agile to anticipate future trends and needs and the Innovation Centre helps to foster a stronger culture of co-development and collaboration.
"Since opening in March 2013, we’ve had over 7,000 visitors and next year looks set to be even busier at the Innovation Centre, with more industry professionals visiting the centre and making use of the facilities the Innovation Centre offers."
