Bisca’s hybrid “cantilever” has a slim soffit which, whilst not immediately obvious, curves to fit the stair snugly against the wall. The outer sections of the walnut treads have a cantilevered appearance.
The richness of walnut contrasts wonderfully with the white plastered soffit. Although the underside of the stair fits to the wall, on the top side a shadow gap detail on the allows for feature lighting. A low iron glass balustrade and walnut handrail complete the project, running around the first-floor gallery.
