The tennis courts have recently been re-vamped with products from Playrite, installed by Outdoor Carpets. Matchplay 2 was suggested to the tennis club, as it is classified to ITF Category 2 Medium Slow standards and has an in-built cushioning layer for easier impact on player’s joints. Not only that, but Matchplay 2 can be used in all kinds of weather and play can continue as little as 30 minutes after rainfall. Southbourne Tennis Club decided on a two tone court, which was created by using colours Miami and Navy. Two tone courts are becoming increasingly popular, but are generally seen in colours terracotta and green, or two shades of green like this court at West Linton Tennis Club.

The installation was carried out by Colin Lloyd of Outdoor Carpets, who has worked countless times with Playrite’s Steve Byrnes, knows the product range very well and has lots of experience in fitting tennis courts. Outdoor Carpets installed Playrite’s Matchplay 2 over an existing tamacadem painted surface, with base preparations done prior to laying. They explained how:

“It was very innovative of the club to choose the two blues instead of the standard greens and terracotta, but the end result looks great.”

Due to the good weather the 3 courts were fitted within 5 days so play could continue without major disruption.
