These nature-inspired designs boast a diffused, marble-effect pattern, created through pairing an irregular motif with one of two core background tones. This combination creates a unique carpet tile, every time.
The versatile range, which bolsters the existing Desso AirMaster collection, can be used to set either a calming or stimulating ambience in workplace interior spaces. This is through a refreshed colour palette, which now comprises nine neutral shades, ranging from blues to greys, plus three accent hues including burnt orange and green.
Bringing the outdoors in
Commenting on the launch of the extended range, Becky Pole, Design Manager at Tarkett, said: “The addition of six new colours to our popular Desso Desert AirMaster collection offers designers greater creative versatility. Inspired by the natural environment, we’ve paired an understated, marble-effect pattern with an earthy palette of tones.
“Combining strong health and wellbeing credentials with inspiring design features, the collection helps to combat poor indoor air quality, while simultaneously tackling issues with acoustics. Desso Desert AirMaster is a fantastic example of how we tie all of these factors together to support designers in specifying products that are both beautiful and practical for their workplace projects.”
In addition to its natural appearance, Desso Desert AirMaster also seeks to bring some of the outdoors in. Spurred on by the fact that the office workforce typically spends 90% of its time indoors, the range has been designed specifically to counteract the challenges of being inside for such a large portion of time.
This includes combatting particle and fine dust pollution, which plays a determining factor in the air quality of workplaces, while being directly linked to health risks1 such as respiratory problems and allergic reactions.
Clearing the air
Desso AirMaster is eight times more effective at capturing and retaining fine dust than smooth flooring solutions, and is four times more effective than standard carpet solutions.
This has led to the product being the first in the world to be awarded the GUI Gold Plus label – the highest possible accreditation from Gesellschaft für Umwelt- und Innenraumanalytik (GUI), Germany’s leading independent air quality testing organisation.
For Tarkett, developing flooring ranges that help to contribute to improving people’s health and wellbeing and protect the environment is central to both its innovation strategy and longstanding Cradle to Cradle® commitment.
The Desso Desert AirMaster range is Cradle to Cradle® Silver level-certified, with EcoBase® backing as standard, and the option for Desso SoundMaster® Lite™ backing.
All Desso AirMaster collections contain ECONYL® yarn, and for the Desert AirMaster range all colours are made from 100% ECONYL® yarn – a 100% regenerated nylon made from recovered waste materials such as end of life carpet yarn and discarded fishing nets.
In addition, every Desso AirMaster carpet tile features a primary backing, Colback®Gold2, with up to a 95%3 decrease in antimony content, helping to preserve finite antimony reserves and promote safer tile recycling.
