Grown in responsibly managed forests in the Portuguese region of Alentejo, cork is ideal for use in seating as it is not only tactile and visually beautiful, it also regenerates naturally.
The bark of Alentejo's cork trees, crucial for biodiversity, can be harvested every nine years and can live for over 200 years.

Much of the cork harvested today is used in the production of stoppers for the wine industry. Once the corks have been stamped out of the bark, the waste material is passed through a chipper and compacted into cork blocks – making production circular and almost entirely zero-waste. |
