The Chamberlain & Co Abberley comport is in impressive 38 cm in diameter bowl which is so shallow, it could almost be described as a plate, but will prevent any contents from falling it, but who would want to cover such exquisite hand painted decoration?

The simplicity of the Abberley comport by Chamberlain & Co, is a remarkable example of the exacting skills applied to seamlessly create Chamberlain & Co’s magnificent pieces. To create and maintain the elegant lines of the comport, the bowl & foot are cast, ensuring the clay cast is of consistent thickness throughout, then its seamlessly assembled, it’s hard to believe it was originally made from two pieces. Simultaneously a forming ring is made. The assembled comport is then inverted and placed on a setter and shaped alumina dome – these elements ensure its elegance is maintained.

Once biscuit fired – the meticulous decoration process begins, firstly the comport will be spray glazed then we start to build the decoration layer by layer, and after each process it is fused in the decoration kilns – in total it can take in the region of 35 hours. Chamberlain & Co offers comports in their King George III collection and Imari, and it’s the perfect surface for bespoke too.
